Society of Women Writers & Journalists (SWWJ)

I have mentioned the Society a few times on this blog and last week I managed to send my application off for probationary membership. I won't hear until November if I have been accepted but fingers crossed I will.

I wouldn't have known about the organisation if it hadn't been for joining Writing buddies and meeting Penny Legg who is the editor of The woman writer magazine (SWWJ's magazine). As I learnt about it I realised it was well worth applying even though I am only an aspiring writer not a professional one.

Yesterday I headed up to London for an SWWJ event. It was a day for journalists and non-fiction writers run by Wendy Hughes. The day was very useful - Wendy's experience and helpful hints as to where the writing market is going was well worth going to and I will certainly attend her future events.

As I am not a member yet I went as a guest and it was a great insight as to how an organisation like SWWJ can help with your writing career. I look forward to being able to participate in future SWWJ workshops and events. Details of how to join are on the society are on the SWWJ website.
